SURREALISM AND SPONTANEOUS ABSTRACTION

Vilhelm Bjerke Petersen: Gående mand bærende sig selv. 1938

The surrealistic and abstract avant-garde of the 30´s is among others represented by early works of Vilhelm Bjerke Petersen, Rita Kernn-Larsen, Ejler Bille and Richard Mortensen.

Bjerke Petersen´s "Gående mand bærende sig selv" (A walking Man carrying himself) - obviously inspired by the surrealism of Dali, gives a psychological illustration of a split personality.
